Will a female finally win the Oscar for Best Director?

The nominations for this year's Academy Awards are in and as expected Director Katherine Bigelow has been nominated for The Hurt Locker. Competing for the Oscar against four other men, including her ex-husband James Cameron, Bigelow has what many believe is the best shot ever at becoming the first female director to win the Oscar in its 82 year history. Stay tuned, Sunday March 7th to see women make history.

Creative Commons - Alternative Copyrights

As per our class discussion, here is a website that outlines a whole host of alternative, creative copyright agreements for licensing/using media: Creative Commons

Creative Commons is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to making it easier for people to share and build upon the work of others, consistent with the rules of copyright. CC provides free licenses and other legal tools to mark creative work with the freedom the creator wants it to carry, so others can share, remix, use commercially, or any combination thereof.

Business Cards

Here is what you might want to consider including on your business card:
Name (and company name, if you have one that you think you'll really stick to and want to use)
Phone number (land line &/ cell)
Mailing address (this is not really necessary, especially if you are going to be looking for jobs in a variety of places and not your home town or Columbia. But if you think you need to include a physical mailing address, make sure to use a permanent address - i.e. a post office box or your parents' address)
Website/s
What you do (for example, "filmmaker" or "video, photography, set design", etc)
Artwork/design elements

There are several companies out there that offer free business cards. They all have different deals, turnaround times, and print quality, so do your research. Here is the one that Sam and Hannah used (and seemed to be pleased with): Vista Prints
